Burn

There was a huge fire in downtown Reykjavík today. The blaze totally destroyed houses that were more than 200 years old and a blueish smoke engulfed the city center. It's a tragedy to see those culturally important buildings gone, but thankfully no one was hurt.

This painting of urban decay is appropriate, I think.

Fashion Victims

Lately I've been doing two things: Getting more into watercolors and looking at Facehunter for inspiration. Drawing from street-fashion photos gives you tons of ideas for poses and colors. It's also a challenge to get the textures and folds of fabrics right. I still haven't gotten the hang of the texture side, but I'll strive for it. Lord, will I strive.

Framsækið rokk / Prog rock

I've been drawing the "Prog Dude" for years now. He's a lonely prog musician that is living off his former glory days of the early seventies. He spends much of his time working on very complex orchestral rock music. He thinks a lot about what his next quadruple concept album box set will be called. Maybe "The Oracle of Xerxes" or "Cataclism XVI". The only problem is, nobody cares about prog anymore, so he's usually very irritable.

Here are two examples that were done a few years apart.





He also spends a lot of time drinking cognac. Maybe that's his real problem.
